After a bloated Super Bowl in Dallas, it's time to rein in big game →

wilwheaton:

For absurdity, how about those four Navy F-18s flying over the stadium - with its retractable roof closed? Everybody inside could only see the planes on the stadium’s video screens. It was strictly a two-second beauty shot. Know what it cost taxpayers? I’ll tell you: $450,000. (The Navy justifies the expense by saying it’s good for recruiting.)

Emphasis mine. It is disgusting and morally repugnant that the government will spend $450,000 on a stupid flyover that the people in the stadium can’t even see, while schools and libraries are having their budgets slashed all across America.

Yeeeah, this is so not shocking. Highly sick and disturbing, very much so, but color me not surprised. *sigh* That’s what the US has come to these days. =/

A Staggering Look at Baggage Fees [Infographic!] →

wilwheaton:

I didn’t know until I read this that baggage fees are tax-free for airlines. Suddenly, I understand why the airlines are fucking us in this particular way.

Holy crud. I never really thought about it, I just assumed, you know, fuel prices skyrocketed and people took a massive break from flying after the whole 9/11 and then again with the economy being in the crapper… I just figured, shitty, but OK so they’re trying to make back some of what they’re losing from all this damaged business… plus I don’t fly all that often, and I never need more than one bag, so… But damn. That is…wow. How is that even possible?! >_<

Question

tumblrbot asked: WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

Wow, there’s a tumblrbot, and it asked me something immediately. Okay then, I suppose that’s one way to get people to post something. Well, Russia is at the top of my to-see list, but it’ll be a little while before I get there. In the meantime, seeing more of Europe that I’ve not yet seen will have to suffice. ;)
